Lunar Boy: Book One Review One night while lying in bed Vincent gets a visit from the dashing, funny, ever confident hero of Vincego...Lunar Boy. Did I mention that he wears shoes that show his big toes and cloths that are obviously way too small for him? The charming Lunar Boy pulls Vincent into the world he created and proceeds to lead him on the biggest Adventure of his young life. If you mix yourfavorite video game with your Saturday morning cartoon you get Lunar Boy. Creator Jarrett Williams has formed a story that is driven by the amazing characters and intriguing world in which they live. Each new character that you are introduced to has a story to tell and a unique character design. You instantly find your favorite (mine is Scrow) and attach yourself to them. In Lunar Boy book one you have an enormous amount to look at. The book runs a consistent 324 pages! His drawings are eye candy on every page and in my opinion Mr. Williams is a master of the double page spread. The one flaw I have with the book is that those beautiful double-page spreads get cut short due to the spine area. Some very intriguing content gets lost due to the bend of the spine. Even though I noticed this it does not hinder your reading of the story. The story is great, it introduces you to numerous characters, has adventure and even a love story (more of a school age crush than an all out love story). The best part is that unlike many first time series creators the book has a complete story. There is a definite beginning, middle, and end. The pacing of the story is also very well done. Once you finish the book you instantly want to read more and lucky for us Mr. Williams works at a superhuman speed and is putting the finishing touches on the second Lunar Boy book. After speaking with Mr. Williams I have learned that the second book is to be released mid summer 2007. And if that isn’t enough for you, you can read Lunar Boy Land at http://www.lunarboyland.com. The online web comic ties in elements from the main story and introduces Lunar Boy Land exclusive characters. But wait folks! That’s not all; you can even read numerous short stories that Mr. Williams has collected as mini comics. Needless to say I am hooked. I can’t seem to get enough of Vincego and its inhabitants. I just long for the days of the Lunar Boy video game and cartoon. Mr. Williams has created a world which is so intriguing you can’t resist. Trust me, read the book and you’ll see for yourself. You’ll also see that Scrow IS the best. The book receives five out of five stars, excellent book.
